Rating:
This one pulled me in right away! I really liked the MFC, she was relatable and unperfect. I also really liked the fresh take on dragons and how language were woven into the story. It was very cleverly done.
The story starts of strong and I was sure this was going to be a 5 start read. Unfortunately it doesn’t quite manage to keep the momentum going for me. Most of the last part happens in one location, so it felt a bit limited. I would’ve loved to see more of the world. I also felt like the main romance could have gotten some more page time. I never felt like I got to know the MMC so I just didn’t really care what happened to him (and I won’t spoilt anything, but if you’ve read the book you know the story kind of wants you to care about that..).
Still, this was a smart and enjoyable read and you’ll probably enjoy it if you like dragons, languages and a bit of mystery/codebreaking.
