Rating:
I really enjoyed this book. The worldbuilding is layered and immersive, no info-dumping, just a steady stream of hints and details that let you piece together how the magic and history work. It really shows rather than tells, which made the experience feel so much more rewarding.
The constant POV shifts, especially in the beginning, took a bit of getting used to. I found myself more drawn to one timeline than the other at first, which made it harder to stay fully immersed in both. But as the story progressed, I really came to appreciate how the two narratives built off one another.
There are so many clever developments and well-placed reveals throughout the book — it kept me hooked and guessing in the best way. And that ending? Let’s just say I’ll be reaching for book two very soon.
