My thoughts…
My rating:
After a long stretch of fae-centered reads, stepping into a vampire world felt like a refreshing detour — and The Serpent and the Wings of Night delivered exactly what I needed. I was hooked from the beginning. The premise pulled me in right away, and I found myself flying through the first few chapters.
It follows a pretty classic fantasy structure: deadly trials, layered worldbuilding, mysterious powers, and a slow-burn connection that adds tension without taking over the whole plot. I really appreciated how the pacing kept things moving — there were very few dull moments, and I was genuinely curious about how it would all unfold.
That said, a few of the challenges in the competition felt a bit too easily resolved. I would’ve loved just a little more complexity or struggle in those moments to raise the stakes. On the flip side, the story takes an unexpected turn toward the end — and that twist genuinely caught me off guard in a good way.
Overall, this was a solid, entertaining read. While I can’t quite pinpoint what kept it from being a full 4-star for me, I still had a really good time with it. If you’re in the mood for something with vampires, drama, a strong heroine, and just the right amount of romantic tension — this one’s worth checking out.
